Meet The Staff

Wrestling is how we train, not the whole of who we are. The discipline, patience, and honesty this sport demands are the same qualities that shape how we live, work, and treat the people around us. Every coach at Vento Aureo holds themselves to the standard we teach, on the mat and off it.

Between us, we've won state titles, earned All-American honors, and coached state champions and placers at both the high school and middle school levels. We came up through different rooms, but we share the same principles: show up, do the work honestly, and let your habits speak for you. That shared standard is what brought us together, and it's what we build into every athlete we coach.

We coach technique, but we also coach how to train, how to recover, how to compete under pressure, and how to carry yourself when no one's watching. Our goal is simple. Every athlete who walks through our doors should leave a better wrestler and a stronger, more disciplined person.

Alexander Young

Coach Alexander Young

Alexander wrestled for Horizon High School, where he earned the Rising Star Award as a freshman after working his way from JV to the varsity lineup. He went on to serve as team captain his junior and senior years, chosen for his leadership in the room. He was a section champion, a three-time state qualifier, and placed third at the AIA State Tournament. In the international styles, he won a Greco-Roman state title and finished as state runner-up in freestyle. On the national stage, he earned high school All-American honors four times. He went on to wrestle for Labette Community College, placing fourth at NJCAA Nationals and earning All-American honors.

His coaching career began with Wyatt Powell, a two-time Greco-Roman state champion who reached the AIA State finals that year. Wyatt went on to wrestle for Cloud County Community College, where he placed eighth at nationals and became an NJCAA All-American.

Alexander then spent a season as an assistant coach at Ironwood High School, helping lead a team that produced two state champions and several state placers on the way to a third-place team finish. He followed that with three years coaching at Shadow Mountain High School.

In 2023, he founded Vento Aureo Wrestling Club. Since then, the club has developed state placers and champions from across the Valley. Two of the athletes he coached, Huy and Gavin, now coach alongside him.

Wrestling shaped how Alexander approaches everything: training, business, relationships, and taking care of himself. The sport taught him that results come from what you do daily, not from what you say you want. He coaches the whole athlete, including technique, conditioning, recovery, mindset, and how they carry themselves when no one's watching. His goal is for every athlete to leave Vento Aureo a better wrestler and a more disciplined, self-assured person.

Huy Nguyen

Coach Huy Nguyen

Huy wrestled for Arizona College Preparatory and was a three-year varsity starter and state qualifier. He also competed in Greco-Roman, placing at state and earning All-American honors at Freak Show Nationals.

As a coach, he's built a record that speaks for itself. He has helped lead a high school team to a state runner-up finish and two section titles. He has coached two high school state champions and eight state placers, along with four middle school state finalists and a middle school placer.

Huy's approach is built on the fundamentals: good positioning, clean technique, and doing the small things right every time. He believes consistency beats talent over the long run, and he coaches that way. Show up, put in honest work, and trust the process. For Huy, the goal isn't just winning matches. It's helping athletes become people who follow through, handle pressure, and respect the work.

Gavin Sisamount

Coach Gavin Sisamount

Gavin wrestled for Arizona College Preparatory, where he won more than 150 matches. He was a three-time state qualifier, a three-time state placer, a two-time state finalist, and a two-time section champion, capping his career with a state title in 2026.

His awards tell the story of how he got there. He was named Most Improved Wrestler in 2023–2024 and Outstanding Wrestler in 2025–2026. He went from fifth at state to the finals and then to a championship, and that progression says a lot about how he approaches the sport: steady improvement, honest work, and no shortcuts.

He brings a hands-on presence to the room and makes sure every athlete gets real reps and real feedback. To Gavin, the mat is where character gets built. Accountability, effort, and respect for your teammates matter as much as the scoreboard, and he coaches to that standard every day.
